Tourpatron is a mobile application that allows users to take a self-guided tour of the St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York. The client approached our web development company with the goal of creating a Native Android and iOS app that would offer an engaging and informative tour experience to users. The app needed to include audio narration, images, and a unique design and flow. There were also limitations related to payment and user login that needed to be addressed.
Challenge

Access Control: Limiting tour content to paid subscribers or users with login codes while preventing unauthorized sharing and misuse.
Performance: Ensuring the app could handle thousands of concurrent users during peak visiting hours without slowdowns or crashes.
Content Management: Building an admin panel for real-time content updates (audio, images, descriptions) that sync instantly across all user devices without developer intervention.
Multi-language Support: Implementing scalable language options for audio, text, and UI with independent admin control over translations.
Solution
Design: Conducted brainstorming sessions and created refined prototypes to deliver a responsive, cross-device compatible design.
Payment & Security: Integrated secure payment gateways (credit cards, PayPal), implemented server-side validation, rate-limiting, and encrypted data transmission to prevent code exploitation.
Scalability: Optimized backend infrastructure and used CDN-based content delivery to support 4,000–5,000 concurrent users during peak hours.
CMS & Real-time Sync: Developed an intuitive admin dashboard with API-driven content delivery and push notifications for instant app updates.
Multi-language Framework: Created a scalable system allowing clients to add languages and manage translations independently, with seamless language switching for users.
