Stratum EMR System Development Case Study: Drupal 7 & Bootstrap | SJ Innovation
Learn how SJ Innovation developed Stratum, a HIPAA-compliant EMR system using Drupal 7 and Bootstrap with mobile-first design, role-based access, and automated reporting features.
Overview
Stratum was built keeping in mind the mobile-first approach. Design for desktop and mobile was done separately and some fancy effect was added to make it attractive. The styling was planned in such a way that all elements were made reusable blocks.
Goals
The goal was to make mobile-friendly with best in standard UI/UX and easy to managed site content and future enrichment.
Challenges
During development, we had faced lots of issues both technically and conceptually. There were lots of complex calculations, relations among encounters and lots of data manipulations of patients, providers, and admins. HIPAA compliance servers made the deployment job a lot harder for high security of the data.
Our Solution
Apart from the basic issues, all complex problems such as server issues, conceptual or technical issues were resolved by doing an extensive investigation. Unit testing, sanity testing even black-box testing scenarios came and the team had done this in many modules to resolve the issues by taking the challenge.
Result
A complete EMR system is up and running with lots of automated scripts for generating reports, giving treatments to patients with multiple user roles and dashboards with a huge list of role-based features.
